Extended Block Working (EBW) module is a new method of working, similar to the withdrawn Temporary Block Working and Emergency Special Working as from 06th December 2025.

This course concentrates on Level Crossings. By the end of this course you will have gained an understanding of the rules and what different types of crossings means to a train driver. The course is structured by means of reading through each section with tasks and Q&A as you follow it through.

This course is designed to aid your learning in SLW. SLW is a degraded method of working which train drivers may be presented with in the real world. This module helps you towards your final rules with your respective company

Basic level of understanding of the bombardier traction units.

This is the entry level qualification for anyone who wishes to work in the rail industry. If you expect your work to involve maintenance or repair of the track or affect track geometry then you would need an extra level of competency.

Please note: Enrolment onto this module is for a duration of 30 days, after this period you will be unenrolled and any activity data will be removed. Due to high levels of traffic and many companies using this indepth module, we have decided to charge a small fee to help cover costs of adding more resources to ensure optimal performance for yourselves. We have kept this to a minimum, equivalent to a cup of coffee to help cover costs. I would like to thank you for your contribution and support.
